Man in 2015 Viral Video Arrested For Rochester Bank Bomb Hoax
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Bail was set at $20,000 today for a man arrested Tuesday afternoon at a Rochester bank for claiming he possessed a bomb.
The criminal complaint filed against 45-year-old Ryan Russell Liskow says Rochester police officers were dispatched to the Wells Fargo Bank branch on 55th Street Northwest around 4:20 PM. The officers were responding to a report that a man had walked into the business and made statements about a bomb in a box he was carrying.
The court document says the responding officer found Liskow, who was known to the officer through previous encounters and is homeless, seated in a cubicle near the entryway. The officer spotted an orange shoebox next to the man.
The officer then spoke with people inside the bank. One employee stated that she was working in the lobby when she heard someone loudly say something about “the bomb in my box.” The employee indicated that Liskow was holding the box up high and later heard him say to another employee, “I’m sorry for saying there’s a bomb in my box.”
Another employee told police that she saw Liskow walk inside with the box and offered to assist him. He refused her offer and began impatiently walking around before refusing a second offer of assistance. At that point, the witness reported hearing Liskow say, “You’re asking too many questions. It’s like I have a bomb in the box.”

The employee said Liskow then asked to go into a confidential area to speak with someone. He was directed to the cubicle where he was later found by the officer. She described him opening the box in front of her and seeing a bunch of papers and an item that was brown with drawstrings on it.
Rochester police reported that no explosives were found.
Liskow is charged with making terroristic threats involving an explosive or incendiary device. His Bail was set at $20,000.
Liskow attracted national media attention in December 2015 after he robbed a Sterling State Bank branch in northwest Rochester while a local TV reporter was in the parking lot during a live report. The televised report concerned a robbery at the same bank the previous day.
