St. Peter, MN (MinnesotaNow)- A police officer was shot during an incident in southern Minnesota

The St. Peter Police Department says one of its officers was hit by gunfire around 8 p.m. Thursday.

So far limited information has been released. 

St. Peter Police Officer Shot During Shelter-In-Place Incident Thursday Night

Police say the officer was shot in the 2100 block of Bunker Ln. in St. Peter. The officer was transported to a medical facility. 

A description of the officer’s medical condition has not been released. Officials also have not yet identified the officer. 

No information has been disclosed about the suspected shooter.

Authorities had issued a shelter-in-place order in the area of the officer shooting around 10:15p.m. Thursday. The order was lifted about 15 minutes later. 

Details about the incident have not been disclosed. The St. Peter Police Department plans to release more information at a later time. 

3rd Time This Month MN Law Enforcement was Shot At

It’s at least the third time this month someone has shot at a law officer in Minnesota. On June 8th, a fleeing suspect fired at Blue Earth County Sheriff’s deputies. No one was injured. 

The next day, law enforcement was shot at during a standoff in Minneapolis. No injuries were reported in that shooting.
