Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Cub Foods today officially announced plans for a new store in northwest Rochester.

A news release issued by the Stillwater-based grocery firm says the 80,000-square-foot store should be open in the spring of next year. It will be constructed on a parcel of land near the Costco Store at Scott Road and Commerce Drive Northwest. The proposed plans for the new store were submitted to the city of Rochester in late November.

The news release says the new Cub Foods Store will feature the company's "All Our Best" concept. It will include an 8500-square-foot liquor store featuring a wine-tasting bar, a covered drive-through pickup area, and a pharmacy with a drive-through.

It will be Cub Foods' second location in Rochester. southeast Rochester store opened in the 1980s in a building that was previously used by IBM and was originally a Wells Department Store.
