The St. Louis Park man was accused of fatally shooting 31-year-old Kyla Fletcher on January 8. After she was fatally wounded, doctors at the Hennepin County Medical Center successfully performed a C-section and delivered the couple's infant son, who suffered limited brain activity due to oxygen deprivation in the womb.

The child was named Messiah and died a little over a week later after being taken off life support.

The criminal complaint alleged McCray shot the victim in the parking lot of an Amazon facility in Lakeville where he was employed. Court documents indicate the shooting occurred just hours after the couple broke up over accusations of infidelity.

Investigators determined McCray left the home he shared with the victim and went to his mother's home, but for some reason, the victim ended up giving him a ride to the Amazon facility.

McCray initially told investigators the shooting was an accident, but the criminal complaint says he confessed after he was confronted with the video recording from a surveillance camera that did not support his version of the events.

According to the document, McCray told investigators he pointed a gun at Fletcher and pulled the trigger after he became upset when she backed up her car in the Amazon parking lot and an open door struck him.
