
Fatal Overdose Reported Near Rochester Shopping Center
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Rochester police are investigating another apparent fatal drug overdose.
Police Department Lieutenant Thomas Faudskar today confirmed that investigators are treating the death as an overdose based on evidence discovered at the scene. He says the Police Department responded shortly before 11 AM yesterday to a medical call of service in the 1200 block of South Broadway. When they arrived, the responding officers found a 47-year-old Rochester man in distress. Lieutenant Faudskar says medical aid was administered, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Earlier reports indicated that the incident occurred behind the Savers Store at the Crossroads Shopping Center.
A little over a month ago, Rochester police reported responding to five deadly drug overdoses in the city over a span of just five days. One of the deadly incidents involved the deaths of three people who were found in an apartment building in the 1500 block of 3rd Avenue Northeast. A police spokesperson indicated that fentanyl was involved in all five deaths.

More recently, a Rochester police officer became ill after responding to a drug overdose at a local convenience store. In that case, the overdose victim was successfully resuscitated, and the officer suffering from exposure to fentanyl was treated and released after being transported to the hospital. That incident occurred just over a week ago on July 13.
