Minnesota Man Found Dead in Boundary Waters Canoe Area
Ely, MN (KROC-AM News)- A Minnesota man was found dead in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Friday afternoon.

The St. Louis County Sheriff’s office says canoeists reported discovering the man’s body around 5 p.m. The 911 callers reported finding a canoe that was partially submerged with a deceased person.
Authorities then responded to the scene on Lake Agnes, which is about 25 miles north of Ely, and recovered the man’s body. He has been identified as 62-year-old Mark Ham of Duluth.
First responders found a life jacket at the scene, but said Ham was not wearing one at the time of his death. Ham’s family told investigators he was on a solo camping trip, the news release says.
The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office and Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office are investigating the deadly incident.
Officials are using the tragic incident as an opportunity to remind the public to wear life jackets while out on the water.
