At Least Two Lives Lost in Deadly St. Patrick’s Day Crashes on Minnesota Roads

Undated (KROC-AM News)- There were two fatal crashes that claimed at least two lives in Minnesota on St. Patrick’s Day.

The State Patrol responded to both fatalities in evening and nighttime hours on Sunday. Two vehicles were involved in each collision and one of the deadly crashes involved two semi trucks.
The first deadly crash occurred in southern Minnesota and the second occurred in far western Minnesota. Complete information for both crashes has not been published as of Monday morning.
Vehicles Heading in Opposite Directions Collide on Minnesota Highway
The state crash report for the first fatality says a northbound Jeep and southbound car collided on Hwy. 22 near St. Peter in Le Sueur County. The head-on collision occurred around 5:30 p.m.
The Jeep driver is a 53-year-old man from Mankato and the car was driven by a 20-year-old man from Jordan. Officials plan to release more information about the deadly crash early Monday afternoon.
Fatal Crash Involving Semis at Western Minnesota Intersection
The second deadly crash occurred shortly after 11:30 p.m. at an intersection in far western Minnesota’s Lac Qui Parle County.
A semi truck that was attempting to enter Hwy. 75 collided in the intersection with a southbound semi truck about 45 miles northwest of Marshall, the state crash report says.
A 48-year-old Lake Benton man was driving the semi that attempted to enter the two-lane highway. The driver of the southbound semi has been described as a 68-year-old Gary, SD man.
The State Patrol plans to release more information regarding the fatal crash involving the semis early Monday afternoon.
