Darn Wind! Windy Conditions Damage a Drive-In Movie Screen
I know it's that windy time of year, Central Minnesota is always windy during the Spring, but it seems like it's been worse this year. But in Northern Minnesota, it was even worse.
THE WIND HAS BEEN PRETTY CRAZY FOR THE LAST FEW DAYS
If you have been paying attention for the last week or so, you would have seen that there were a bunch of dust storms around the area. Some roads were even closed for a short time because drivers couldn't see because of all the dust flying around.
IT DOES SEEM TO BE WORSE THE FURTHER NORTH YOU GO
Now, I will give you that Northern Minnesota is much more windy than it is here in the more central part of the state. We lived in Fargo, ND, for about 4 years, and it was ALWAYS windy. Even on a beautiful sunny summer day, it could be very windy. But when it damages property, that's when it's more than just a nuisance.
DRIVE-IN THEATRE SCREEN WAS DAMAGED IN THE RECENT WIND EVENTS
The town of Warren, which is just North of Crookston, has a drive-in theatre. It's called the SkyVu Drive-In theatre. And they are closed until further notice because of the damage to the movie screen caused by the high and sustained winds from the last few days.
Just a couple of days ago, they took to social media to let everyone know that they would be closed until the screen is fixed. They are hoping that they will be able to open next weekend, as that is a holiday weekend, and the unofficial start to Summer.
This drive in theatre is one of the few left in Minnesota. But they do seem to be making a comeback. It's kind of fun to sit in your car, or on your car and watch a movie outside. Just make sure to bring bug spray.
Hopefully the SkyVu Drive-In will be able to get this fixed as soon as possible.
