Popular Medical Drama Gets Advice From Real ER M.D. From Minnesota
Right now there are so many hospital and ER shows on both streaming and regular network to watch. I feel like the first one I really remember being super popular was the show "ER" starring George Clooney, and many others including Noah Wyle. And if you are paying attention, Noah Wyle now is the head ER doctor on the new streaming series The Pitt.
The Pitt runs on HBO/MAX and is in it's second season. The show has been recognized as one of the best with both the show and Wyle winning awards. The issue I have is that one episode drops each week, so I just wait until the season is over and then binge as many episodes as I want at a time. It really is a great show. The season is just one day in the ER. Kind of like how the show 24 with Keifer Sutherland was just 24 hours.
I often wonder if these doctor shows are true to real life in any way. So many people have said that Grey's Anatomy really isn't Some parts are, but mostly it's just situations created for drama. Which is fine, it's been very successful. The show The Pitt is different. It's different because there is a real ER doctor that is advising and is on set during the filming of each episode.
That ER doctor is from Minnesota. His name is Dr. Jacob Lentz and he works for M Health Fairview Lakes Medical Center in Wyoming, Minnesota. How cool is that? First, because it's someone from Minnesota consulting on a very popular show - live vicariously, people. And also that they are trying to keep things as accurate as possible for a actual ER.
If you'd like to catch The Pitt, it runs on HBO/MAX on Thursdays at 9pm.
