If you are someone who likes to order special bakery items, or if you want to order a special cake for an occasion.  And maybe you want to use some specific as a decoration on that cake, things have gotten easier.

NEW POLICY REGARDING THE WAY YOU ORDER CAKES AT COSTCO

Before, if you went into Costco to order a specialty cake, you would be asked to fill out a clunky form, and try and describe what you would like on the cake - maybe something special for a kid's birthday.  Maybe it is something special for an anniversary, or something along those lines.  Now, they are implementing a new online form.  No need to go to the warehouse to do this, it's much easier, in your home, or wherever and online.

The new system will let members select cake sizes, shapes, flavors, designs, and inscriptions from a catalog of options, replicating and expanding the options offered on the traditional paper forms

WHAT IS THE TIMELINE FOR THIS NEW POLICY

I think I like the way they are doing this.  The plan is to roll out the new system gradually so that there aren't as many glitches.  They want to start in a few markets as test subjects before they roll it out to every Costco around the nation.  This is really the right way to do it.  Just in case there an issue that comes up. they can deal with it, fix whatever needs to be fixed, and continue on.  The plan is to have this system up and ready to go by the end of 2026.

NOT JUST FOR BAKERY - PARTY PLANNING GOT EASIER TOO

This system isn't just going to be for the specialty cakes and bakery goods.  This will also be the way that you can order the deli trays too.  Specialty meats, cheeses, crackers, etc will also all be done online through the Costco app.  You might as well download that now, and it will be ready to go as soon as it rolls out to every Costco.
