Have you fallen for the Dirty Soda craze? If so, you can now take your shopping experience to a whole new level in central Minnesota.

We have a fairly new soda shop in town, and if you're headed to St. Cloud Crossroads Mall, that's where you'll find it.

SCHMIDTY'S SODA SHOP

According to WJON, Schmidty's Soda Shop had their Grand Opening back in March of 2026. If you have'nt heard about it yet, or want to know what makes Schmidty's Soda Shop a special stop?  Think fun...think bold...think taking your soda addiction to a new level.

CELEBRATING MINNESOTA

I saw that on October 4th, Schmidty's created TWO drinks for the Vikings vs. Miami Dolphins game, and they both sound delicious.

TRY THE SKOL

The Vikings SKOL consists of Sprite, Blue Raspberry, Grape, and Blueberry Boba. The Dolphins drink was called FIN UP  ( I believe it's also called The Coast) and featured Fresca, Cotton Candy, Blue Raspberry, and Mango Boba.  Two great concoctions if you ask me! (You just have to call it something different when you're in the presence of Vikings fans!)

HMMM...WHERE HAVE I SEEN THEM BEFORE?

If you are already familiar with the name, Schmidty's Soda Shop , it may be because you can find them in Alexandria at the Midway Mall, Suite 107,  where back in August, they were nominated as one of Alexandria's Top 5 Best Small Companies to Work For.

It's my understanding that Schmidty's has been in Alexandria also under a year, and Jessica Schmidt says that as much as she loves soda-lovin ' people, she might love her soda artists even more.

FROM JESSICA...

I reached out to Jessica to talk about Schmidty's Soda Shop and to explain a little bit about why she came to St. Cloud, what it means to own the soda shop and what they offer. Here is what she had to say:

'We opened our first location in Alexandria in June 2025, and after seeing the incredible response from our community, we knew we wanted to bring Schmidty’s to more people!

St. Cloud actually holds a special place in my heart! I attended St. Cloud State University and graduated with a degree in Elementary Education. I lived in St. Cloud during that time, so it really was home to me for a while.

Bringing Schmidty’s here feels a little like coming home, which makes opening this location even more special! The idea for Schmidty’s actually came from my own love of soda! I’ve always been an avid soda lover, but I wanted a fun place where I could go and get a drink I really enjoyed while still having plenty of sugar-free options. That was something that was important to me from the very beginning.

We offer a huge variety of sugar-free flavors and combinations because I believe everyone should be able to enjoy a fun, delicious drink without feeling limited by their preferences or dietary needs! But what makes Schmidty’s special is that we’re about so much more than just soda. Of course, we love creating fun, unique drinks with endless flavor combinations, popping boba, fruit purées, and all the extras!

Our menu also includes energy drinks, lemonades, teas, chai, matcha, and cold brew, so there’s truly something for everyone.

Our biggest goal has always been to create a place where everyone who walks through our doors feels special and leaves feeling like a bestie. We have a fun, beachy atmosphere, a constantly changing Drink of the Day, and a team that genuinely loves connecting with our customers.

One of my favorite things about Schmidty’s is watching people come in for the first time, not knowing what to expect, and then seeing them come back with their friends and family.

We want to be the kind of place where people feel welcomed, remembered, and genuinely excited to return. We’re incredibly grateful for the support we’ve received and excited to continue building those relationships in St. Cloud. It’s pretty special to bring a business I’ve poured so much of my heart into back to a community that was once my home!'

In 2022, Como Park Zoo celebrated the Summer of Sparky with twenty-one custom Sea Lion statues, hand-painted by local artists, placed throughout the Twin Cities, featuring water conservation messaging and weekly events. Now the statues can be seen throughout Como Park Zoo year-round. Check out pictures of some of the Sparkys below.
