Items Now Banned From The 2026 Wisconsin State Fair

The 2026 Wisconsin State Fair kicks off on August 6, with 11 days of food, festivities, and fun for the entire family at Wisconsin State Fair Park in West Allis, WI, in the greater Milwaukee area.

As fair organizers get ready to welcome visitors to this year's event, they are reminding the public of some important guidelines to make the experience enjoyable and safe for everyone.

Some of the items, like weapons, are pretty obvious things most people probably wouldn't even consider bringing. Several other items on their list of things you're not allowed to bring might be much less obvious.

There are also a few things on the banned items list that are a bit curious.

I feel like there has to be an interesting story as to why hula hoops, for example, are specifically banned from the fair.

I don't imagine the average person will feel compelled to carry with them a bulky hula hoop, let alone try to use it after eating some fair food, but there must have been an issue at some point that led to more curious items like these being specifically mentioned by fair organizers.

I could see why you wouldn't want people trying to hula hoop in the middle of the crowds at the fair, though. So I get it.
