Genre-bending singer-songwriter and musician Ben Folds is making a return to Minnesota this fall, with two shows scheduled as part of his "Paper Airplane Request Tour". One will be in the Twin Cities, while the other will be in Duluth.

Over the course of three decades in music, he has created a variety of music, including indie/pop albums with the Ben Folds Five, solo albums, and a number of collaborations that have included work with some of the best orchestras around the world.

Along with making music, Ben earned the honor of being the first-ever advisor for the National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center.

Ben's 2024 tour is going to revisit something he did back in 2017, where he encouraged fans to make song requests from the audience by sending them via paper airplane to the stage. How cool is that?

In an Instagram post, Folds said "The last time I did this on tour the response was overwhelming, with literally hundreds of paper airplanes with song requests being launched on cue from fans at the start of the second half of each of my concerts."

He continued "It’s the purest, most low-tech form of engagement that creates a special bond with my audiences.”

This tour will see Folds play in Duluth at the DECC Symphony Hall on Saturday, October 5 and then in the Twin Cities at the Ordway in St. Paul on October 6.

Doors for the Duluth show will open at 7 pm, with the show starting at 8:00 pm.

Tickets for the Duluth show go on sale on Friday, May 3 at 10 am, with tickets ranging in price from $39 to $99 via Ticketmaster. Ben's website says ticket information for the St. Paul show is coming soon.
