Brand New Breakfast Destination Opening Soon In Duluth

Bears, Beers, Bagels. That's what Dwight Schrute said, right?

I know it isn't. But those three things are (kind of) coming together in Duluth as Ursa Minor Brewing is preparing to open a breakfast destination centered around bagels.

Ursa Minor's new breakfast venture is located in a space different from their taproom on Superior Street in the Lincoln Park Craft District. The new breakfast venue, called Bean & Bear Bagels, is at the Ursa Minor brewing facility and main office building at 202 South 26th Avenue West in West Duluth.

The brand launched a social media presence in February, with the company sharing some photos of the exterior of their space and teasing some of the things to come.

The name, of course, plays on a few factors. The popular Bean & Bear hiking trail on the North Shore is an obvious connection, but the Ursa Minor name means "little bear", and the breakfast venue will serve coffee (beans), so there are a few levels to the name.

Ursa Minor's founder explained to a Twin Cities media outlet that the inspiration for Bean & Bear Bagels came from their brewery employees looking for an option for a convenient breakfast in the neighborhood where their offices are located.

The menu will include scratch-made breakfast sandwiches, coffee, fresh-baked bagels and cream cheese, all using the same philosophy for their beer and pizzas. Locally-sourced and fresh, never frozen ingredients are at the core of everything on the menu. The menu will emphasize convenient, grab-and-go food and coffee options, giving a quick and delicious-sounding alternative to the sit-down option in the neighborhood, Duluth Grill.

One of the social media updates Bean & Bear has provided is a look at their logo and the coffee cups and to-go food bags, designed by local company Wonderhorse. Looks pretty nice, huh?

So, when will Bean & Bear Bagels open? The plan is to open this spring, with the team there aiming for sometime in April or May.
