The Weather Channel Reports Live From Duluth During Blizzard
We woke up to one heck of a mess on Wednesday morning in the Northland. Roads were glare ice with packed snow on top, causing crashes all over the place. I witnessed a vehicle spin out on the Blatnik Bridge on the way to Downtown Duluth today. I also saw a car spin out on Michigan Street, and I slid right through a red light.
I noticed a TV camera shooting footage across the street downtown, but didn't recognize what news station it was. I saw them taking shots of the Bentleyville Banner that was blowing in the skywalk. That wind was wicked!
Then I noticed a reporter with The Weather Channel microphone just outside of the Lyric Kitchen & Bar in the Holiday Center in Downtown Duluth. Sure enough, Weather Channel Meteorologist Molly McCollum was doing a pre-Thanksgiving weather report from snowy Duluth! Molly reports that we received 10.3 inches of snow in Duluth. It's hard to tell with the wind blowing it around everywhere.
After seeing the video, it makes sense why the camera guy was tucked away. Apparently, their camera got saturated last night when they were next to Lake Superior, shooting footage.
