Spring is in the air - I can feel it! We've had an interesting winter so far, with a few rounds of heavy snow and some pretty major cold snaps. However, March is when we start to finally see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Of course, it wouldn't be out of the question to see another round of snow or another prolonged cold snap but this is at least when we can start shaking off the winter blues we get all season.

March can really go either way. It should be noted that the National Weather Service's Climate Prediction Center just shared an outlook for March, stating that it will be warm to start before things trail off near the end of the month.

April, however, is when things can really start to turn to spring. While it's still a ways out, I did turn to the Old Farmer's Almanac to see what they were predicting for our region next month so we can have something to look forward to.

Old Farmer's Almanac Shares April Outlook For Minnesota + Wisconsin

The Old Farmer's Almanac always makes long-term weather predictions by region, which includes most of Minnesota and Wisconsin, including the Northland. The Old Farmer's Almanac hasn't shared their exact formula when it comes to making their weather predictions.

However, what we do know is that part of that formula is a mix of solar science, climatology and meteorology. With that said, some people believe in their methodology and others do not. You can make that choice for yourself.

So what can we expect in our region next month? It looks like it will be a wet one - but not from snow! According to their predictions for April, we will see periods of rain and thunderstorms throughout the month. There is no snow in sight.

We will see a few brief periods of sunshine between the 7th and 10th and again near the end of the month. The first part of the month will be warm before things cool off near the end of the month.
