The Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP), which is located between the two cities, is frequently ranked among North America's best airports.

It serves as a central hub for Delta Air Lines and is home to Sun Country Airlines. MSP also represents the Greater Minneapolis-Saint Paul region, a thriving 16-county economic hub.

Of course, Minnesota air travelers are very familiar with MSP, often using it as the starting point for their trips. Of course, if your trip does start there, and you have to drive to the airport, planning on where to park is always a consideration.

Parking at MSP is very convenient, but it typically costs between $19 and $30 per day for standard on-site options, with premium valet services reaching $55 per day. Hourly rates at both terminals start at $5 for the first hour and $3 for each additional hour.

For those looking for more budget-friendly options, there are also less expensive park-and-fly options in the area, and hotels that allow long-term parking if you stay there ahead of your flight.

It's important to find which parking option is the best fit for you, and now the Mall of America (MOA) is providing another option to choose from.

Mall Of America Introduces New Long-Term Parking Option

The Mall of America recently introduced Park | Shop | Fly, a new long-term and overnight parking program designed to offer travelers and guests a "secure, convenient, and cost-effective alternative to traditional airport and metro-area parking."

MOA is located 2.5 miles from MSP, so while not the closest option, it does provide a place to shop and eat ahead of your trip, and the cost is just $12 per night (tax included), making it one of the most affordable overnight parking options in the Twin Cities metro.

The mall boasts that now its guests can park, shop, dine, enjoy attractions, and seamlessly connect to MSP Airport or to downtown events all from one location.

How Does Park | Shop | Fly Work?

According to MOA:

  • The long-term and overnight parking is available in P7 East, a level of a secure parking ramp on the East side of the Mall with more than 900 dedicated spaces.
  • Although not required, guests are encouraged to reserve a parking spot in advance at mallofamerica.com/parking/long-term-overnight. They'll then receive a QR code for quick, contactless entry and exit.
  • Drive-up parking is also available (based on capacity), with payment made via phone or credit card at the gate.
  • Parking fees apply only if a vehicle remains parked after Midnight.
  • Upon arrival, guests are guided by clear way-finding signage to the designated parking area.
  • Direct elevator access is available to the rideshare pickup location and Metro Transit station, with average travel times to MSP terminals under 10 minutes and just a short ride beyond that to downtown events and attractions.
  • Guests are responsible for arranging their own transportation to and from the airport or downtown.
  • Safety remains a top priority. P7 East ramp is equipped with 24/7 security monitoring, patrols, cameras, emergency call boxes, and controlled badge-reader access at the elevator bank.
  • Guests must keep their parking ticket or QR Code on hand to re-enter the facility.
  • Security staff are available to assist guests as needed.

It's worth reiterating that while the Mall of America does not offer a shuttle service to the airport, the designated long-term parking lot has elevator access to its rideshare lot as well as the Metro Transit station, which includes a Blue Line light rail service to MSP.
