The City of Duluth and its partners continue to work to revitalize Downtown Duluth, which Mayor Roger Reinert has stressed is a priority, stating that downtowns are the economic engine of every community in Minnesota and beyond.

Unfortunately, several businesses have been unable to overcome hardships and have had to close, such as Blackwater LoungePaddle North, LuLu's Pizza, the downtown Wells Fargo Branch, Snyder Drug, Hallmark, Hoops Brewing, and Valentini's.

However, it's not all bad news as new businesses have opened, or have announced plans to open in Downtown Duluth, including Superior Mart, the Force on Fifth Avenue Hotel (in the former Ordean building), and Underwood Coffee opening in the Board of Trade Building.

Recently, as I was exploring outside our radio station studio in downtown Duluth, I discovered another new business had recently opened, and this one will make people looking for a new place to eat happy.

Dee's Southern Kitchen Opens In Downtown Duluth

Dee's Souther Kitchen is now open at 319 W. 1st Street, right next to Roscoe's Pioneer Bar; in fact, the two businesses share an interior door so you can go between them without stepping outside.

Dee's Southern Kitchen just opened in mid-March, so they're still getting signage in place, with a menu featuring a variety of burgers, sandwiches, appetizers, ribs, wings, and, of course, Southern comfort food.

Catfish is also on the menu, and daily specials are posted a day in advance.  They also told me they will deliver within the downtown Duluth area.

Dee's Southern Kitchen is open from noon to 8 PM every day except they're closed on Wednesdays.
