Owatonna High School hockey teams were involved in a trio of shutout games over the weekend. Unfortunately for OHS they lost those games. The Huskies' girls dropped a 4-0 game at No. 4-A Proctor/Hermantown Friday night. The Mirage peppered Owatonna's Asia Buryska with 54 shots and she turned 50 of them aside. The Mirage held the Huskies to 12 shots on goal.

On their way back south Saturday, the Huskies stopped in East Bethel for a game against St. Francis/North Branch. The Saints edged the Huskies 1-0. Owatonna had the shot advantage 23-21. OHS went 0-for-5 on the power play.

The Huskies' three-game, three-day stretch started with a 4-2 win at Austin Thursday night.

Owatonna (6-9-2) hosts Mankato East Tuesday, January 8 at 7 pm on Dudley Otto Rink at the Four Seasons Centre and on KRFO AM 1390 and the KRFO app. The Cougars won a 3-2 overtime decision November 27 over the Huskies and are one point ahead of Owatonna in the Big Nine Conference standings.

The Owatonna boys lost a 2-0 game at section rival Hastings Saturday afternoon. The Raiders scored a short-handed goal early in the second period and added the insurance marker early in the third. OHS went 0-for-3 on the power play. The Huskies are 0-for-10 over the last two games with the man-advantage. Overall on the season, OHS is 8-for-48 for 17-percent on the power play.

The loss ended Owatonna's five-game winning streak that included the championship of the Heritage Tournament in Duluth just after Christmas. Hastings (9-2) has one of the top records in Section 1AA. OHS (8-4, 4-1 conference) goes to Big Nine-leading Rochester Century (10-1, 5-0) Thursday, January 10 for a 7:15 pm face off on Kat Kountry 105FM and the Kat Kountry app.
