Head coach Kevin O'Connell and the Minnesota Vikings agreed to a multi-year contract extension earlier in the week, and know we know the numbers.

Just yesterday the Pro Football Writers of America (PFWA) named O'Connell the 2024 National Football League Coach of the Year. K.O. led the Vikings to a 14-3 regular season record, with a nine-game win streak in the middle of it.

O'Connell's original Vikings contract was set to expire at the end of next season, originally signed for four years at $5 million per year.

There were also rumors circulating at the end of the season that some teams around the league were interested in making the Vikings a trade offer for the third-year coach. Both the Vikings and O'Connell said that they wanted the coach to stay right where he is.

Kevin O'Connell's new extension will reportedly make him the eighth highest paid coach in the league (tied with John Harbaugh of the Baltimore Ravens). The seven coaches making more that O'Connell are the Kansas City Chiefs’ Andy Reid ($20 million), Denver Broncos’ Sean Payton ($18 million), Pittsburgh Steelers’ Mike Tomlin ($16 million), Los Angeles Chargers’ Jim Harbaugh ($16 million), Los Angeles Rams’ Sean McVay ($15 million), San Francisco 49ers’ Kyle Shanahan ($14 million), and the Chicago Bears’ Ben Johnson ($13 million).

Kevin O'Connell's new deal as the head coach of the Minnesota Vikings is rumored to be a five-year contract worth $12 million a year, or $60 million total -- keeping him in a purple hoodie on the U.S. Bank Stadium sidelines through the 2029-2030 season.

O'Connell is now earning more than Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell, the Buffalo Bills Sean McDermott, and the Green Bay Packers’ Matt LaFleur.

Top 10 Items People in Minnesota Stock Up On When They Hear "Storm"

I am pretty sure that as soon as the word "storm" shows up in the forecast, people in Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, and Wisconsin are just trained to hop in their cars and go to the store. Stocking up on supplies becomes our #1 priority and we shop like we have absolutely nothing in our house to eat. So, we will up our carts with all "the things" and hope we grabbed enough to make it through the storm.

FYI - we will make it through the storm, and some of us will do that with Double Stuffed Oreos. Some of us will not...because the store shelf was empty by the time we got there.

Below are a few of the top items that we grab at the last minute before the storm hits.
