Southeast Minnesota has dodged several bullets lately when it has come to springtime winter storms, but our luck could finally run out with this latest winter storm that's taking aim at our area.

While we didn't get any snow Friday night into Saturday morning, it wasn't long after that the long-range forecast had that now-too-familiar snowflake icon listed for Monday night and into Tuesday.

And sure enough, the National Weather Service office in La Crosse has now put just about all of southeast Minnesota and most of western Wisconsin under yet another Winter Storm Watch for late Monday night and most of Tuesday.

According to their latest forecast bulletin,

A complex storm system will impact the region late tonight through Tuesday. Significant snow accumulations are possible, ranging from 6 to 10 inches across southeast Minnesota into west central and central Wisconsin and 4 to 6 inches across portions of northeast Iowa. Some light freezing rain is also possible for areas south of Interstate 90.

Great. Our specific forecast here in Rochester calls for snow to start late Monday night, with 1 to 3 inches possible. Then, add on another 3 to 5 inches possible through the day Tuesday.

When you add it all up, that's between 4 to 8 inches of the white stuff that could end up on our sidewalks, driveways, streets, roads and highways by late Tuesday night-- and possibly more in some areas.

And, yes, it's April 2nd. This isn't a leftover April Fool's Day joke. Sheesh.
