Sunday afternoon at the Eagle Lake American Legion. There's a Spaghetti feed going on and some country Karaoke. Not too out of the ordinary. But the reason for the event was to help Gilbert Hoppe.

He had recently posted a note with his hearing aids offering to sell them so he could raise money to buy a vehicle to get him to his medical appointments. Some people thought he was crazy. Some ridiculed him.

His wife struggles with COPD and is on oxygen. Gilbert struggles with cancer. Then along comes Kristi Bighley. She along with Jena Faue and Chris Wright decided they need to do something for this army veteran.

According to KARE 11, a GoFundme page was set up. As of Monday morning that had raised $10,335. A couple of thousand was raised during the legion event.

Hopefully, those that offered ridicule in the beginning, will have a change of heart.
