A tour bus carrying Gregg Allman’s crew crashed in northwest West Virginia on Wednesday morning. Three were taken to the local hospital and the highway was closed.

WSAZ-TV in Huntington, W.V., reports that the driver of the bus says he choked while driving, causing him to wreck at about 5AM this morning. Two buses were traveling together and one crossed from the southbound lane into the northbound lane, through a guardrail and up an embankment. The three that were hospitalized were treated and released.

Allman has a show on Wednesday night in Charleston, W.V. His publicist tells WSAZ that the show will go on as scheduled. While closed initially, the highway was opened after the crash but closed again so crews could remove the bus off he embankment. The crew were sound engineers and equipment was seen being removed from the bus.

Allman has been an influential singer for country artists. In 2014 many paid tribute to him during the All My Friends, Celebrating the Songs and Voice of Gregg Allman show in Atlanta. Eric Church, Trace Adkins, Brantley Gilbert and Martina McBride all attended.

Less than two months later tragedy struck when a crew filming his biopic Midnight Rider was struck by a train. One person was killed and the biopic was shut down by producers.

The 68-year-old Allman will tour heavily this summer, with several more scheduled through this week and weekend and the spring.
