The 11th Annual Concerts in the Park, put on by the Faribault Parks and Recreation, is coming up fast! The first concert is on June 14th and there are concerts for all types of music lovers. Here is a rundown of all of the FREE concerts available this year:

 

June 14th - The 8th Street Band

A country rock band from the upper Midwest.

 

June 21st - Bavarian Musikmeisters

A 35-member wind instrument band from the Twin Cities.

 

June 28th - Little Chicago

A cover band for hits from the 60s and 70s from New Prague.

 

July 5th - Mankato Area Community Band

A full concert band with over 50 musicians ranging in age from 14 to 87.

 

July 12th - Long Time Gone

A bluegrass group who also plays some original music.

 

July 19th - Owatonna Community Band

One of the regions top community bands.

 

July 26th - Everett Smithson Band

Their show is called the Music of the Mississippi where they play zydeco, blues, rackability, and roots music.

 

August 2nd - Due North

An acapella group from the Twin Cities.

 

August 9th - Bend in the River Big Band

One of the Twin Cities top jazz big bands.

 

August 16th - Gold Star Band

A group of 6 Mankato-based musicians who play classic and current country music.

 

August 23rd - Jivin' Ivan and the Kings of Swing 

*this performance will be held at River Bend Nature Center

Jivin' Ivan is Ivan Whillock, Faribault's Renaissance man. The ensemble specializes in music from the American songbook prior to the 50s.
