Best Ways to Prevent Getting the Flu
Here's what the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has to say about what you can do to prevent getting the flu.
- A yearly flu vaccine is the first and most important action in reducing your risk of flu and its potentially serious outcomes. It's not too late to get one now.
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Wash your hands frequently.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth. Germs spread this way.
When Should You Visit a Doctor?
According to the Mayo Clinic, if you think you have the flu and you or someone you're caring for is at high risk of serious flu illness, or flu-related complications. They also add that, regardless of risk-level, you should get care right away for any symptom that worries you.
