The Faribault Lakers, Waterville Indians and Wanamingo Jacks have played some very good baseball and are ranked in the top nine in the latest Class C Amateur Baseball rankings.

Faribault is sixth, Waterville seventh and Wanamingo ninth.

The Lakers defeated Prior Lake on Saturday 5-2 and play New Market on the road Sunday. Wanamingo lost to Bloomington on Thursday, defeated Lake City on Friday and are off for the holiday weekend.

The New Market game has a scheduled first pitch of 2PM.

In Saturday's win, Porter Sartor clubbed his first Laker home run in a 5-2 win and Egan Bonde pitched eight innings of five-hit ball. He walked two and struck out 8 batters. Sartor had two RBI.

Bonde threw 113 pitches, 76 were strikes. Evan Jensen notched the save after throwing a 20-pitch ninth inning with 11 strikes.

The Lakers had seven hits and the Sox had six, and each team had two errors in the game.

Jake Stocker was the only Faribault player to collect multiple hits in the game and had an RBI. Adam Kline tallied a RBI double, Christian Von Ruden had a hit and sacrifice fly RBI as well as a stolen base.

In the Wanamingo 4-2 win over Lake City on Friday night, Brady Anfinson was the winning pitcher after going the first six innings. Anfinson allowed just one run and scattered five hits; he walked one and fanned three batters.

Noah "China" Grove pitched the last three innings to earn the save while allowing no hits.

The Serpents slithered to a one-run lead while scoring in the bottom of the first inning, but the Lakers answered immediately with two runs in the top of the second and added two more in the fifth inning. Lake City's other run came in the eighth inning.

Brady Anfinson helped his cause on the hill with two RBI and a double. Peder Sviggum also clubbed a double and had an RBI. Eric Sviggum continued his torrid hitting with a three-hit day and an RBI.

Wanamingo had seven hits and Lake City had five. The Jacks took advantage of seven walks and a hit batsman in the game.

Wanamingo travels to Owatonna on Wednesday for their next game.

Faribault not only plays New Market on the road Sunday but hosts them Wednesday at Bell Field with a 7:30PM first pitch.
