The Veseli Warriors scored two runs in the bottom of the 9th inning today to walk-off the Faribault Lakers in Dakota-Rice-Scott (DRS) League Amateur Baseball.

Andrew Picka singled on a 1-1 count pitch to plate the tying and winning runs making the score 4-3.

Both teams played error-free ball.

Nathan Picka started pitching for the Warriors going the first four innings allowing 4 hits, 3 runs, all earned with 3 walks, 5 strikeouts.  He threw 90 pitches, 55 strikes.

Blake Woodson then slammed the door on the Lakers while throwing 5 innings of 1 hit relief with 2 walks, 4 strikeouts.  Woodson threw 78 pitches, 46 strikes.

Faribault had 5 hits, Veseli 7 hits in the game.

Egan Bonde started the contest for Faribault going the first 3 innings with no runs scored, one hit allowed, no walks, 8 strikeouts.  He threw 49 pitches, 35 strikes.

Danny Bomsta took the hill the next 2 and 1/3 innings allowing 2 hits, 2 runs, both earned with 1 walk, 1 strikeout.

Then Tyler Francis threw a inning of relief allowing 1 hit, no runs, no walks, 2 strikeouts.  Joey Grote pitched the final 2 and 1/3 innings to take the loss.  He allowed just one hit, 2 runs, both earned with a walk and 3 strikeouts.

Grote threw 36 pitches, 23 strikes, Francis 22 total pitches, 15 strikes and Bomsta 44 pitches, 25 strikes.

Faribault scored all of their runs in the top of the second inning.  With 2 outs Ryan Archambault smacked a line drive single to left field.

Archambault advanced to second base on a passed ball.  Zach VanThomme was walked.

Dylan Valentyn clubbed a RBI single followed by a 2-run double off the bat of Xander Fitzsimmon.

Veseli would scratch out single runs in the 5th and 6th inning.

Mason Mayer was walked to start the bottom of the 5th.  Following a fly out and ground out Mayer was at second base when Andrew Picka hit an RBI single.

In the bottom of the 6th inning Nathan Simon hammered a one out double.  Francis was brought in to pitch for the Lakers.  Riley Schaeffer stroked a 0-2 pitch for a RBI single and advanced to second base on the throw home.

Francis then got back-to-back strikeouts to end the inning.

In the bottom of the 9th with one out Mayer was hit by a pitch.  Jackson Jirik was walked.  The two runners advanced to second and third base on a ground out for the second out before Picka's single to end the game.

It was the first win of the season for Veseli (1-2) following losses to Elko (2-0) and Prior Lake MudCats (12-8).

The Lakers are scheduled to go to Shakopee Wednesday, then St. Patrick Sunday.
