The Faribault Lakers have been hit by injuries lately after an awesome start to their season but they persevered 3-1 over Union Hill in Faribault Friday night.

Nate Rost threw 8 innings of 1 run ball and was masterful pitching with runners on the basepaths.  Joey Grote finished the game strong for the 11th Lakers win of the season.

The visiting Bulldogs cranked out 10 hits while the Lakers connected for 6 hits in the game.  The one run allowed by Rost was not earned.

Union Hill scored in the 4th inning thanks in part to an error.  The Lakers tied the game in the bottom of the 6th inning and scored two runs in the 7th to secure the victory.

Grote delivered  the eventual game winning hit right after Union Hill made a pitching change.

The Bulldogs started Joe Becker.  Conrad Masberg came on in relief.  Grote attacked the first pitch and delivered a two run single for the Lakers.

Becker threw 121 pitches, 79 strikes with 10 strikeouts, 2 walks, 6 hits allowed.

Rost tossed 129 pitches, 89 strikes, with 7 strikeouts, 3 walks, 8 hits allowed.  Grote threw 20 pitches, 14 strikes, with a strikeout, no walks. 2 hits allowed.

Danny Pierce and Grote at the top of the order each had two hits.  Porter Sartor hammered a double and Adam Kline had the other Faribault hit.
