Tyler Francis went the distance in a 6-0 Faribault Lakers win Wednesday night over the Vesli Warriors at Bell Field.  Francis threw 120 pitches, 82 for strikes while allowing 3 hits, striking out 11 and walking two batters.

The Lakers had 7 hits in the game and left 13 runners on base.  Joey Grote had 2 hits, 2 RBI and 2 stolen bases in the game.  Danny Pierce also had 2 hits.  Porter Sartor had a hit and RBI, Jake Stocker a hit and Mitch Johnson a RBI single.  Mike Carpentier also had a Sacrifice fly RBI.

It was the third straight win for Faribault.  The regular season ends next Friday for the Lakers.  They have 3 games left.  Friday at Union Hill, Wednesday at Lonsdale and home against New Prague Friday, July 31.

St. Patrick leads the DRS League with a 4-0 record and has played just one away game.  Prior Lake is next at 6-2.  Faribault next at 5-2.

The Irish have allowed just 7 runs in those 4 victories.  St. Benedict is 3-3 while scoring 60 runs to their opponents 44.  The Lakers have scored 52 runs in 7 games while allowing 39 runs.

The COVID season means a unbalanced schedule so the league says games back will determine the "standing seedings."

In other area Amateur Baseball Wednesday Stewartville-Racine got by Wanamingo 10-7 in Stewartville.  Both teams had their hitting shoes on.  The Sharks had 13 hits and Jacks 10.

Stewartville-Racine took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the 3rd inning, added 3 more runs in the 4th frame before adding 1 in the 6th and 3 runs in the 7th inning.  Wanamingo scored 2 runs in the 4th then 3 runs in the 8th and 2 runs in the 9th inning to make things interesting.

Gavin Roosen took the loss for Wanamingo while throwing the first 4 innings.  He scattered 7 hits, gave up 6 runs, 5 earned.  Struck out 2, walked 5.  Max Bowen worked 3 innings allowing 5 hits, 4 earned runs, striking out 2 and walking 3.  Dylan Craig threw an inning of scoreless, hitless relief.  He walked 2 batters.

The Jacks had no extra base hits in the game.  Alex Roosen, Eric Swiggum and Max Bowen each had 2 hits and a RBI.  Dan Bauer had a pinch hit RBI, Andrew Anfinson a RBI hit.

Wanamingo has two games left in their regular season.  Friday they go to Pine Island for a 7:30 p.m. game.  Sunday the Jacks are in Winona for a 2:00 p.m. date.

The River Falls Fighting Fish edged Cannon Falls 3-2 at John Burch Park in Cannon Falls.  The Bears are at Red Wing Friday at 7:30 p.m. and host Lake City 2:00 p.m. in their last scheduled regular season game.
