Faribault Lakers Blank Shakopee Coyotes
The Faribault Lakers got terrific pitching performances from Tyler Francis and Matt Lane in a 6-0 win over Shakopee at Bell Field last night. Francis and Lane combined to limit the Coyotes to 4 hits.
The Lakers achieved 8 hits and committed 1 error while Shakopee had 3 errors in the game. Matt Lane and Jake Stocker were the only Faribault players with multiple hits. Kyle Murphy joined Lane in clubbing doubles. Murphy also had 2 RBI, Dylan Valentyn, Joe Palmer, Adam Kline added an RBI each.
Francis and Lane allowed no walks in the game. Francis with 4 strikeouts and 4 hits allowed in 7 1/3 innings. Lane threw 1 2/3 innings without giving up a hit and struck out 2 Coyotes.
The pitch tally had Francis throwing 89 with 66 strikes, Lane threw 19 pitches with 15 strikes. Faribault goes to River Falls Friday.
The Lakers are now alone atop the DRS with a 2-0 league mark.
Coyotes pitchers allowed 8 walks, coupled with 8 Lakers hits it made for a long night.
In other DRS action the Prior Lake Mudcats defeated the Lonsdale Aces 6-4 in Prior Lake. The Aces outhit the Mudcats 9 to 7.
Prior Lake had 3 errors, Lonsdale 2 miscues.
Isaac Pint took the loss after going 5 1/3 innings and giving up 5 runs, all earned on 5 hits. He walked 3 and struck out 3 batters. Ryan Roby tossed 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and run. Greg johnson threw the final inning with one hit allowed.
Ben Morrison recorded the win for Prior Lake.
St. Benedict Saints marched by Montgomery Mallards 8-1.
In other area games. Dodge County beat Wanamingo 10-0 in 8 innings.
Hampton defeated Elko 10-2.
Cannon Falls hosts St. Patrick Friday at 8:00 p.m. after defeating Plymouth Hitdawgs 8-2 last night.
Dundas downs New Market 7-2 to go to 3-1 in Section 1B. Muskies are at Hamptom Saturday.
Miesville bested Rochester Royals 11-7 in Miesville.
Rochester Roadrunners sped by Waseca 6-1 in Rochester.
Owatonna defeated Pine Island 8-2 in Owatonna.
