The 37th Annual Faribault Area Hospice Foundation Light Up A Life tree lighting ceremony was held last night on the campus of Allina Medical Center Faribault.

Executive Director of the Faribault Hospice Board Rick Miller introduced Allina Health South Market President Michael Johnston for the welcome.

Johnston added the dollars donated help in many other ways.

Pastor Jeff Sandgren is a member of the Hospice Board.  He told the crowd gathered outdoors the world can be a dark place.

Sandgren prayed for light in the darkness.

Founding Hospice Board member Norma Schultz read a poem written by hospital employee Curt Jorgenson in memory of his mother.  This year's poem entitled "Whisper."

Board Chair Gary Voegele listed the many businesses sponsoring the event and thanked KDHL for broadcasting each year.

A recording of the Beau Chant Choir singing Silent Night was played for the traditional final sing-a-long song to conclude the program.

Just as we've witnessed each year with many of the same people in attendance the oohs and aahs are expressed when the lights are turned on the Hospice Tree.

The tree will remain lit through the remainder of the year.  The fundraising campaign also continues through the end of this month so if you would like to contribute it is still possible.
