The Faribault Falcons boys hockey team had a happy bus ride home from Rochester Thursday night.  The Falcons rolled by the Rockets 5-1 while outshooting them 43-14.

Zach Siegert and Jordan Nawrocki each had 2 goals in the game and Spencer Ell earned the shutout between the pipes.  Ell is being honored this weekend by the Minnesota Vikings at halftime of the game against Detroit at US Bank Stadium.  The Bethlehem Academy senior is one of five youth statewide to receive a captain award for his efforts on and off the football field.

Ell will be the guest on the KDHL AM Minnesota program Friday morning at 9:30 a.m.

The only fly in the ointment as they say was the power play with Faribault going 0 for 6 while John Marshall was 1 for 4.

The Falcons jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the first period.  8:33 into the period Siegert got his first goal on a feed from Noah Murphy.  15:19 Nawrocki tallied his first score unassisted.

:56 into the second period John Marshall got a power play goal from Shawn Sutton with an assist to Sam King.  At 11:57 Falcon Leighton Weasler scored unassisted.  16:46 Siegert also tallied a unassisted goal.

14:26 into the third period Nawrocki scored with assists to Weasler and Luke Vinar.

Faribault is 2-1, Rochester John Marshall 1-2.  The Falcons host Fairmont Tuesday while John Marshall has St. Paul Johnson come to Rochester Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
