The Faribault Falcons boys hockey team scored a 3-2 win in Red Wing tonight in Big Nine Conference action.  The Falcons had ties in their previous games against Albert Lea and Winona and were determined not to have that outcome again.  Jake Dolter picked up the victory in net while stopping 37 shots.

Faribault outshot Red Wing 47-39.  The Falcons continued to struggle on the power play going 0 for 5 while Red Wing also did not connect for a power play goal in two attempts.  91 seconds into the game the Wingers had a 1-0 lead.  10:01 into the game Noah Murphy (5) scored for Faribault assisted by Luke Vinar (4).  The score was 1-1 after the first period.  The Falcons certainly had their chances to take the lead with three power plays in the period and outshot Red Wing 20-10.

Neither team could score in the second period.  6:46 of third period Zach Slinger (13) scored unassisted.  15:48 Faribault got an empty net insurance goal by Slinger (14).

The Wingers scored with 16 seconds to go in the game to make it 3-2.

Faribault is off until next Saturday when they travel to Four Seasons to play the Owatonna Huskies.  Drop of the puck is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
