The Faribault Falcon boys hockey team continues to capitalize on the power play.  The Falcons defeated Winona 3-1 Friday in the LaCrescent Holiday Tournament after going 2 of 3 on the power play.  Faribault outshot the Winhawks 37-15 and Winona was 0 for 3 on the power play.  Junior goalie Jake Dolter was in net for his fourth win of the season on 14 saves.

Grady Goodwin achieved a power play goal for the Falcons 1:39 into the game assisted by senior Daniel Drevlow (4).  Winona did tie it up before the end of the first period.  Shots were 14-6 in favor of Faribault.  Goodwin (4) scored his second goal 13:11 of the second period to give the Falcons the lead.  It was also on the power play, unassisted.  Faribault outshot Winona 14-8 in that period.

The Falcons dominated the puck in the third period allowing just one shot on goal by the Winhawks while they had 9 shots in the period.  A short handed empty net goal was scored by Leighton Weasler (3) with 19 seconds to go in the game to give Faribault their third goal.

The Falcons are 6-2-1 and play 11:30 Saturday morning against Becker-Big Lake.  The Eagles lost to LaCrescent Friday 4-3.  Faribault has not lost yet in the tournament.

The Falcons have scored 11 times on the power play in 9 games this season while allowing 6 power play goals.  The power play is now at 32.4 percent.
