The Faribault Falcon football team and fans saw the best run at Bruce Smith field in a long time Friday night.  Senior Joe Hoisington ran over would-be tacklers and willed his way to a 41 yard run that set the Falcons up with a first and goal at the six yard line. It was somewhat reminiscent of some of the runs current Falcon Assistant Coach Shane Gunderson made with regularity over two decades ago.  It appeared Hoisington was looking for people to run over on his long run.  He would score three touchdowns and Kade Hart hit his older brother Kallan Hart on a 85 yard pass play for Faribault's other TD.  Andy Swanson added a 23 yard field goal late in the game to seal the 30-20 victory over the Mankato East Cougars. The Falcons improvement week one to week two was very evident.  In Rochester last week they had turnovers.  No turnovers at Bruce Smith Field for Faribault while they recovered a Mankato East fumble inside their own 10 and Porter Sartor made a sliding interception of a Mankato East Pass.  The offensive line was impressive with Hoisington running dive plays while Senior Mitch Nagel went wide after wingback David Sadergaski would secure the edge with a kickout block.  Faribault's win places them at 1-1 on the season while Mankato East is 0-2. The Falcons will travel to Owatonna next Friday on POWER 96.  The Class 5A defending Champion and current top ranked team pulled out a thrilling 40-37 overtime win at Rochester Century Friday night.  Get more details about Faribault's win on the Faribault Coaches Show from Bashers/J&J Bowling Center at 10 Saturday morning.  Some incredible games in the Big Nine Friday night.  Owatonna downed Rochester Century in Rochester 40-37 in overtime...Mankato West clobbered Northfield 62-28 in Northfield during Defeat of Jesse James Days, Mayo edged John Marshall 23-22 , Austin bested Albert Lea at Hammer stadium 42-41 and Red Wing beat Winona 21-7.
