Overall I'd say we've got it pretty good here in Minnesota. We've got beautiful outdoor areas, fun touristy attractions, and cool places to visit even just in our own backyard. But even here we've got some bad apples. Which is how we've ended up with the list of the worst places to live in Minnesota.

Some of these towns make sense to be on this list and others had me scratching my head.

This is according to data gathered by Money Inc. They looked at "the crime stats, examined the unemployment rates, and picked through the evidence" to make their list of the 20 worst places to live in Minnesota.

This is one that surprised me! But I guess they have "one of the highest crime rates of all Northern Minnesota’s biggest cities."

Another town with a pretty bad crime reputation.

They say that living areas are tight and the crime rate is up there.

Once again, their crime rate is to blame for the ranking but also the unemployment rate is bad.

Finding a job is tough for residents. They're the 5th worst for unemployment in Minnesota. The average household income is also pretty low.

Money Inc. really took these guys for a ride saying "There's almost nothing to do here." They also say the unemployment rate is high, bad insurance, and the high school dropout rate is high as well.

They have "the 29th highest crime rate in the state, a rapidly shrinking population ..., and the 2nd worst unemployment rate in the state."

Another surprising one! Money Inc. writes that "the city’s crime and economic problems are out of control." They also say that the unemployment rate is the 17th worst in Minnesota and the average household income is "way below the median Income".

The unemployment rate is bad and so is the average household income.

Zippia says that it's a bad place for women to live. Apparently, there's a much higher chance of women living below the poverty line and they make about half of what the men in the area make.

With a higher-than-average unemployment rate, bad crime, and low household income, according to Money Inc., this isn't a good place to live.

Another town with high crime rates.

The unemployment rate is the biggest issue here but the crime rate isn't good either.

Money Inc. says they have a high unemployment rate, high crime rate, and high poverty rate.

I was definitely not surprised by this one just because of the number of people that live there. As you probably guessed, they made the list because of the crime rate.

They made the list for the bad crime rate.

I had no idea the crime rate was so bad here. Money Inc says that the "total crime rate is 448% higher than the US average."

And finally, the number one worst place to live in Minnesota. It surprises me that they're number one, but it would make sense to have them in at least the top 10 because it's a big city. As you probably guessed, crime put them in the top spot.
