My college days were a bit of a blur, but I did leave school with one valuable thing: my diploma.

I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communications at Minnesota State University-Mankato. Though my specific program was small, the communication major as a whole was quite large. So, it doesn't shock me that communication is one of the most studied majors in the United States, but some of the others on the list did surprise me.

Without further ado, here's a list of the top ten most popular college majors.

The Edvocate created a list of the most notorious college majors throughout the last decade, and at the top of that list is a large group of students who pursued business degrees.

No surprise there. In fact, 19% of bachelor's degrees in 2018 were awarded to business students. Following business degrees are social sciences and history degrees and biological and biomedical sciences

The latter major has grown in popularity by 70% since 2006, making it one of the fastest-growing courses.

Next on the list is communication majorseducation majors, and health professions

(I can attest to the popularity of these three degrees. Nearly all of my college friends fell into one of these previously mentioned categories.)

Continuing on, we find engineering and psychology majors. The number of psychology majors is expected to rise dramatically over the next couple of years.

To end the list, we have visual and performing arts degrees and computer and information sciences degrees
