Last evening the Dakota Rice Corn and Soybean Growers held their annual Plot Day. Sometimes it has been held in the morning and wrapping up with lunch and others like this year in the evening. It appears to me we get more attendance in the evening. Special thanks to Mike and Kay Peterson for hosting again this year and taking the time to plant all the corn hybrids and soybean varieties in the test plots.

One of the nice features that the Dakota Rice Corn and Soybean Growers include in their Plot Day is speakers talking about markets and agronomic issues. Jeff Schultz Farm Business Management Instructor at the South Central College in Faribault talked about the markets and the decision to sell or store this fall. University of Minnesota Extension Educators Claire LaCanne and Dave Nicolai talked about the maturity of the crop this year, weed management, soybean aphids and a new insect pest in Minnesota Soybean Gall Midge.
