Dakota County Jail Inmate Dead After Apparent Suicide

Last week a 37-year-old man was arrested on domestic assault charges and booked in the Dakota County Jail.

That man, identified only as being from Eagan, reportedly took his own life while in custody. He was found in his cell just before midnight Friday; efforts to revive him by jail staff and other medics and deputies were unsuccessful.

The news release said all indications are that proper procedures were followed.

The Dakota County Sheriff’s Office, Hennepin County Medical Examiner and the state Department of Corrections are investigating.
