St Paul (KROC AM News) -  Minnesota is reporting its first fatal COVID-19 case involving a child.

The Minnesota Department of Health Monday reported a 9-month-old infant from Clay County who had contracted the new viral illness has died. State health officials say the baby had no underlying health conditions and is among the youngest COVID-19 victims of the nation.

The department’s daily report shows the state has added 922 positive cases to its overall total, which has risen to 47,107.

Three of the new cases were from Olmsted County, which also had one of the four new deaths included in the report.

About 14,000 more tests have been performed, raising the overall total to over 867,000.
