Claremont, MN (KROC-AM News) - Residents of a Dodge County community have temporarily lost their post office.

The same structural concerns created by the heavy snow that has shut down two schools in Rochester and Byron have prompted the U.S. Postal Service to close the Post Office in Claremont until further notice. Officials note the Postal Service leases the building and will be working with the landlord to resolve the issue.

Until then, the services and delivery operations at the Claremont location will be shifted to the Post Office in Kasson, which is open Monday through Friday from 8:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Unfortunately, officials say the mail and packages that were in the Claremont facility will not be retrievable until a structural engineer is able to evaluate the building and it’s deemed safe for employees to enter.
