It looks like our last, best chance for a white Christmas in southern Minnesota comes this Thursday.

Here in our neck of the woods, we historically have somewhere around a 70 to 80 percent chance of a white Christmas, which the National Weather Service defines as at least one inch of snow cover on the ground.

Last year we had heavy rain and some thunder. So weird.

Meteorologists are keeping a keen eye on the weather models for later this week, as a significant snow-maker could make an impact across the state on Thursday.

Two quick moving systems will be chances for snow Tuesday and Thursday. For temperatures we get one more day of mild temperatures today before temperatures drop back to near to below normal the rest of the week.

If we don't get the snow on Thursday, we'll likely be in for another brown Christmas t6his year, as there doesn't appear to be anything meaningful on the weather horizon between Thursday and Christmas Day.

I guess that's welcome news for all the holiday travelers.
