Rice County Sheriff Troy Dunn today announced the identity of an 84 year old Faribault man who was found deceased in Cannon Lake yesterday.  James R. Frederick was found in the lake after a family member requested assistance in locating him when they couldn't find him.

Lieutenant Joe Yetzer is in charge of the Rice County Sheriff's Department Water Patrol and says the call came in 10:49 a.m.  Deputies were dispatched to the 3000 block of Cannon Lake Trail in Wells Township.

Yetzer says, "A pair of boots were noticed floating in Cannon Lake away from shore.  The Rice County Dive Team was paged to respond and assist.  Deputies commandeered a nearby boat and soon located an adult male in the lake.  He was removed from the water and was pronounced deceased at the scene."

The Minnesota DNR also assisted.

Preliminary investigation found no trauma and no foul play suspected.  The case remains under investigation by the Rice County Sheriff's Office and the Rice County Coroner's Office.

Sheriff Dunn told KDHL this morning there is no set timing for a preliminary autopsy report.
