Cannon Falls Set To Add Destination Restaurant Soon
Cannon Falls is going to be adding another place to sit down and have a meal soon. A popular St. Paul chef, J.D. Fratzke, who established himself as the executive chef and managing partner of the now departed Strip Club Meat and Fish is behind it too. According to the Star Tribune Fratzke is opening a supper club inside Artisan Plaza in Cannon Falls.
Fratzke is partnering with Dave Olson and recently became the culinary director and executive chef for the entire market, at Artisan Plaza which will eventually consist of five different businesses. The menu at Artisan Plaza already has a pizza, a sandwich counter, and a Friday night fish fry.
The Star Tribune article mentions that the new supper club will feature some history inside of it as well. Fratzke told the Star Tribune that "an antique 1930s bar from a Chicago pub will be the centerpiece of the dining room."
The website Eater Twin Cities states that "the supper club will harken back to the 1920s, ’30s, and ’40s when city dwellers lit out on backcountry roads destined for somewhere rustic to feast on plate-sized prime rib and crusty walleyes."
We will have to wait a few more months before we can stop by and sink our teeth into a menu that's been mentioned to be featuring wild game, freshwater fish and prime rib. The currently unnamed restaurant is expected to open in May. Until then we are just going to have to wait, or maybe grab some pizza.
