Bethlehem Academy Volleyball Dominates Blooming Prairie

It took approximately 55 minutes for the Faribault Bethlehem Academy Cardinals to sweep the Awesome Blossoms of Blooming Prairie tonight.  Scores were 25-8, 25-5, 25-19 in what I affectionately call "The Garden" in Blooming Prairie.

Due to the first significant snow of the season it took me about an hour to drive there going the I-35 to Minnesota Highway 30 route.  Lots of semis and a number of people either going way to slow or way to fast for the conditions.  Numerous vehicles were in the ditches.

It had to feel for the Awesome Blossoms like they had been hit by a storm of some kind.

In the first set Cardinals sophomore setter Reagan Kangas took over serving with the score 8-4 and when she no longer stood behind the serve line her team was head 21-4.

Bethlehem Academy had 5 errors according to my unofficial statistics. What a volleyball fan has to love about the Cardinals attack is you can't key on any one hitter.  Kangas did a great job of distributing the ball to different players on the floor attacking from many locations.

In the second set the Cardinals stormed ahead and never really looked back.  The key in their domination that set in my opinion was their efficiency.  Just 3 errors in the set.

Bethlehem Academy was very aggressive on their serves with four aces in the first set, six aces in the second set, two in the third for a total of 12 in the three sets.

Blooming Prairie could not string many points together resulting in some low offensive output.  The Awesome Blossoms had  3 kills in the first set, 2 kills in the second set and 11 kills in the final set.  I counted 26 errors in the three sets.

Blooming Prairie was led by senior outside hitter Micalyn Trihus with 8 of her teams 16 kills.

The Cardinals finished the night with 33 kills according to my statistics.  Sophomore Kate Trump led the team with 8, junior Ellie Cohen had 7 kills.  Senior Kennedy Tutak finished with 6 kills.  Sophomores Kangas and Lindsay Hanson added 5 kills each.

Our Malecha's Auto Body "Crunch Time Faribault Players of the Game" were Trump, Kangas and Cohen.

Blooming Prairie hosts Maple River Thursday while BA had their match at United South Central postponed due to COVID-19 issues in the Wells area.
