Holiday Break High School Basketball Rankings

The Minnesota State High School Coaches Association released the latest rankings in boys and girls high school basketball this week.

The girls top ranked teams in each  class are Mountain Iron-Buhl in Class 1A, Providence Academy in Class 2A, Benilde-St. Margaret's, Class 3A, and Hopkins in Class 4A.

Goodhue was dropped out of the top ten in Class 2A with Section 1AA represented by Rochester Lourdes sliding in to the #5 spot.  Caledonia is in others receiving votes.

The Big Nine Conference is represented by Rochester Mayo in Class 4A , #5, and  Northfield, #7 in Class 3A.

The Gopher Conference has New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva and Hayfield ranked #8 and #9 respectively in Class 1A.

The Hiawatha Valley League sports Lourdes in Class 2A, Stewartville #6, and Byron #9 in Class 3A.

South Suburban teams in Class 4A include #3 Rosemount, #7 Eastview, Lakeville South Others receiving votes.

Among boys teams Northfield has had a great start to their season with their only loss being the opener 74-72 against Mankato East at Mankato.  That means they are riding an 8-game winning streak going into the new year.

Mankato East lands at #9 Class 3A .  They have fallen to St. Paul Johnson, and Class 4a Rochester Century and Rochester Mayo.

Goodhue was knocked down from #1 to #2 following a 82-872 loss to Cotter/Hope Lutheran at Winona State University last Saturday (Dec. 27, 2025).

Undefeated Belle Plaine is on top ,  with Caledonia #9, Cotter #10.  Cannon Falls and Zumbrota-Mazeppa are in the Others Receiving Votes category.

Top teams in Class 1A, 3A and 4A are Cherry, Totino-Grace, and Wayzata respectively.

Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton was rated #8 in Class 1A.

St. Peter is #7 , in Class 3A with Stewartville Receiving Votes.

Four South Suburban teams are listed among the Class 4A elite.  #4 Eagan, #6 Farmington, Lakeville South, and Apple Valley.
