Dundas officials announced that the sale of the former Kmart closed last Thursday. Soon the remodeling will begin and CJB II Real Estate LLC of Red Wing will begin transforming the building into a 10-screen movie theater. They also plan to develop part of the area for two to five larger retail operations. They expect to have Sears remain on the site.

Aldi recently submitted a building permit for a site at 611 Stafford Road, for a 18,850-square-foot building. Construction is expected to begin in late spring.

In other Dundas news, Southern Minnesota Law Enforcement Liaison Scott McConkey gave the city and Officer Eric Kline a Doppler vehicle radar valued at a little over $3,000. Kline was the Rice County law enforcement officer with the most DWI arrests in 2016.

According to the Northfield News, the city received a donation of more than $5,000 from the Northfield fire relief and wage increases were approved for the police chief, public works director, deputy clerk and public works assistant and a part-time police officer. John Powell was also introduced as the new Dundas city engineer.
