The firearms deer hunting season started last Saturday. According to the Minnesota DNR deer harvested numbers are down 23% compared to opening weekend last year. Glen Schmitt from Outdoor News joined me on WJON.
According to the DNR, tree stand accidents are the leading cause of injury to hunters. One in three people who hunt from an elevated stand will have a fall resulting in serious injury.
The Minnesota DNR is reporting more than 120,000 deer harvested during the 9-day firearms deer season this year. Those numbers are down 10.5% compared to 2020 when more than 135,200 deer were harvested.
