An Illinois woman recently shared a picture of an insect she found in her home, and it looks like something straight out of a nightmare.

The Bug From Hell

Ok, saying this bug came straight out of a nightmare may be a tad dramatic, but I seriously HATE bugs, and this one scares me more than any nasty spider could.

Jayne Stiefvater lives in Illinois and turned to the Strange Wisconsin Facebook group for answers after discovering a horrible-looking bug in a carton of cat food in her broom closet. I may not know what kind of insect this is, but I do know I'm now terrified to find one in my house too...

(I apologize in advance if this photo gives you the vomit spits)

OH MY GOD! What was that demon bug spawned from Hell?!?!?

Some of the comments that the picture inspired are too great not to mention.

Here are a few of my favorites;

Looks like a tick bred with a spider n grew really long antennas to compensate for the confusion caused!

Are you 100% sure this is not a Pokémon?

It's a frickin scorpion bat.

Definitely a crab tick!!! Highly dangerous and has super powers I would suggest you call the ghost busters or the ATF!!

Ya it’s a big oh hell no.

Now let's get to the most important question, what kind of nasty insect is that thing?

Many people said it's a Pseudoscorpion, and after gathering the courage to do some research, I do believe they are correct.

What is a Pseudoscorpion?

If you have been living blissfully unaware (like me)  that something horrible like a pseudoscorpion exists, perhaps you will feel a little comfort knowing that the bug is not actually as big as it appears in the above picture. (It was zoomed in, thank God!)

Here's the definition of a pseudoscorpion according to Wikipedia;

Pseudoscorpions, also known as false scorpions or book scorpions,[1] are small, scorpion-like arachnids belonging to the order Pseudoscorpiones, also known as Pseudoscorpionida or Chelonethida.

Apparently, pseudoscorpions are harmless to humans and pets and are actually a good thing to have around your home. Pseudoscorpions eat things you don't want in your home like "clothes moth larvae, carpet beetle larvae, booklice, ants, mites, and small flies", which I guess is a good thing, but I still don't ever want to come across one in real life. Feel free to make fun of me if you must.
