As soon as the grass starts getting that tint of green, it is time to fire up the grill!  According to CNN, 80% of us in Minnesota have embraced the culinary art of grills and smokers and most of us fire it up at least once a week.

Before you start that fire, there are some basic rules to follow when it comes to throwing some meat on a grill.  To be more specific:

1. Things you should stop doing when you grill, and
2. Meat that is illegal to cook in the Land of 10,000 Lakes.  Yes, illegal!

Almost every single person in Minnesota has been to a BBQ where they were less than impressed by the grill master.  (And if you haven't experienced that, the "grill master" might be you.)  Things that are super easy to cook, like hot dogs, are left charred and inedible.  Burgers that should be moist and juicy end up like a hockey puck that should be thrown onto the ice at the Xcel.

It Is Illegal To Grill These Types of Meat in Minnesota

87% of people who throw meat on the grill are searing steaks.  Usually, it is from a cow.  However, there have been some "unique" grilling techniques tried in the United States, including in Minnesota, that have required some extra rules.

Yes, animals that some of us think of as "friends" have been considered "meat" to others and are now banned from being served at the next BBQ.
